This area is mainly in Macon County, North Carolina - it’s where I grew up. So even if the photos didn’t all turn out as I’d hoped - it was still fun spending the day with a longtime best friend exploring places we didn’t really appreciate properly growing up.

Admittedly I’m not an expert with the Mamiya RB67 (or Velvia 50). But it is a fun medium format camera to use though I’m a bit slow to adjust to not having light metering inside the camera I’m using. All of these photos were metered with a phone app. Some were successful, some were not.

Velvia 50 of course is an E-6 slide film. When metered properly, it’s truly one of my favorite films to shoot with. That being said, for me, it’s always been a challenge.And as I knew I was going to be in a lush green environment, I had planned on using Velvia 50 for the saturation of greens.

I’d probably have to attribute my less than stellar shot selection to being in a bit too much of a rush. Not taking my time to compose better shots. In addition to the video above, I’ve posted the Velvia 50 photo examples below as well.
